My Superman

Image
Everyone in the world knows a superhero in their life. Superman, Spiderman, Batman, Ironman etc.. etc.. Like everyone, my daughter also has a superhero... Let’s see how she describes the superhero and find out who is that superhero..  Before reading a huge round of applause for the poet inside my daughter... she believes she knows a superhero... Special thanks to my daughter’s English teacher, who insisted that the activity to be done as a poem. My Superman When I think of hero, Courage is what comes to my mind, When someone is in midst of trouble, He is there in the double. Hearing the word hero, The villains are equal to thousand zeroes, But not every hero has special costumes, Nor do they have wings, Though they have common things, Not like the fantasy, But indeed lovely. My hero is none like this one, Instead on the run, Throughout, He works day and night, A great brilliance, my father.                                             - Adn

Unlock success with GAP

Success is elusive as always. There is no special formulae or thumb rule to succeed. Do you know why? Success is a comparative term .. One may feel successful but adjourned not successful by others. Your goal or finish line may not be the same as of others as goals are usually influenced by our life and circumstances. To understand better, for a poor man if he is able to earn enough to feed his family, buy them clothing, give them a shelter he can consider himself successful whereas a rich man need not worry about the basic needs, he considers himself successful only when he has earned his fortune. To be successful if you are chasing someone else goal, you may get a participation certificate but not the medal. You are your only judge who can judge whether you are successful or not. Usually you don’t need to be worried about others judgment, but it is very important to fix appropriate goals. You can’t set an unrealistically high goals or unbelievably low goals. Not only settin

The terrace...

Image
In olden days men use to sleep outside the house and women use to sleep inside the house. There are two reasons; one is to guard the house... Two to escape the sultry tropical climate.. Now a days we sleep inside a locked room with climate control - I mean airconditioners... Though nowadays we Can't sleep outside,  still we can enjoy the terrace.. Vertical living could be a hurdle but give it a try atleast once... Read remaining of the post in a husky bedtime story voice... You will love it.... The Terrace .... Summer is about to end, dampness announces the monsoon, The climate inside the house is still hot and humid, I spread my bed in the terrace, to enjoy the gentle breeze, There I lay in the open air, gazing at the stars, With a bleak yellow light behind me, The lightning streaks meet the far away barren land, Feels like the sky is clicking my picture with flash light, Followed by a loud sound of a thunder; reminding me, It’s not a flash photography..

Are you ready for hefty traffic fine..

Image
It’s a great pleasure to write a blog for a social cause.. Recently government of India increased the traffic fines by almost 10x times hoping that the hefty traffic fines would force public to follow traffic  rules. I have tried to give a dimension to this whole episode with respect to the responsibilities of the Government, Individuals & Institution. The increase in fine has created  uproar as well as support among the public. It is usual in any democracy to have such split opinions. I think I was in 9th grade when my class teacher was very fond of imposing hefty fines. In those time a fine of ten rupees was hefty for a ninth grader. I have been in the construction industry for almost 20yrs. Apart from the hazards at the project site, a constant threat was travel related safety. Hence we were educated to follow the traffic rules time and again. Coming back to the topic, I happened to hear opinion from friends, Indian colleagues about  the hefty fines which have sent shock

I am neither a book critic nor a book reviewer so this blog post is not a book review... This is purely an interesting incident that happened recently. I always have the intention to buy books but ironically many books remain in my table drawers waiting for its turn to be read, which may not happen in my lifetime.  If the book cover is changed in the second edition there is a fair chance that I would buy the same book again. To remind me of the books I commissioned a bookshelf in my living room. The colorful books neatly arranged in the book shelf reminds me of the valuable money spent to buy the books urging me to read. The huge collection of books arranged neatly in the roof high bookshelf of a luxurious mansion’s living rooms all belong to this kind(meant to be bought not to be read). I buy only one book at a time but  they buy books in bulk. The result is the same for all the books in my home and those in the  mansions. They are not even opened once in their lifetime. Am I

A mute story...

Image
Its titled mute story as all communication are cut off in airplane mode.. Yes My co-passenger Mr.Apple is in airplane mode and me too... This is about a usual flight journey. It brings back my memories of my first flight from Lucknow to Delhi in the year 2001. It was a very short flight, one day before 9/11 so there were no security checks.. All you need is flight ticket to walk into the luxury of    hospitality. Unfortunately it didn’t last long for me. Three tier security was introduced before my second flight. Coming back to my first flight, the flight was only an hour long flight. Those days only Indian Airlines is India’s one and only domestic carrier. Food was served from Taj kitchen even in short flights which was my first experience dining at 20,000feet. Now a days food is not served at 20,000 feet its sold there. Even in those days, everyone mind their own business and keep themselves in airplane mode, I mean muted. Newspapers were distributed which keeps everyone e

How to handle work related stress?

Image
From being an easy-going youngster in the Engineering College in the late 90’s to ambitious Engineering graduate to being a team leader of highly aspiring Engineers, I have been in many stressful situations ranging from missed targets to unsolved problems to successful moments, on the other hand performing the balancing act between the family and profession. There were lighter moments as well as heavier moments, moments when everyone come to the rescue and moments where I am let alone to handle stressful situation. It has been an awesome journey so far in my professional career. I would like to share some of my experience and practice for those who struggle handling the work related stress. Why I decided to write about work related stress? Let alone the budding stars, usually work environment is unforgiving and ruthless, which even tests the capabilities of the seasoned and  experienced professionals.  Work stress drives the weak close to breakdown.   There is only a thin line b

What would you do if you get a bag full of money?

Image
What would you do if you get a bag full of money? It may be a hypothetical situation for many of us and reality for many others. Anyways once the question creeps up the first thing everyone imagines is about the size of the bag? Is it USD or other currency? Let’s assume the bag weighs 20kg with highest denomination of your countries currency.  Will you keep the bag in a strong room & keep counting many times or put the money into full use..  My take on what to do with the bag of money. This post is not to tell the readers how to use the bag full of money but to open-up the minds and use the bag full of money efficiently and effectively through systematic thinking.

கனவுகளை துறந்து

Image
In this modern work we are forced to live an average life where the priorities has been to become a professional, get a monthly salaried job, live a budgeted life till the retirement. This trend has been more or less the same in most part of the world. Following the passion is shelved in pursuit of a guaranteed monthly income and live a middle class life. To be in a guaranteed mont

Today is the day....

Image
I found a caption on my colleagues t-shirt "Today is the day" which was very catchy. When the conversation continued, he asked me to write about the canvas caption. The caption sounded poetic so a few lines about "Today is the day". It's human psychology that we get struck in the past or worry about  the future.  We usually forget to cherish about today. Start today, Don't Procrastinate... Tomorrow  never comes...  Today is the day, start following your passion,  Today is the day, leave negativity behind, Today is the day, start being positive, Today is the day, start doing good deeds, Today is the day, reach out to the down trodden, Today is the day, be courteous to fellow beings, Today is the day, start spreading peace and love, Today is the day, thank those who helped you, Today is the day, to remember our stepping stones, Today is the day, to be happy and joyous, Today is the day, to bring a positive change, Today is th

Chaos all around.. Is it ??

Image
With morning coffee in my hands, I stand in the portico gasping  the fresh air which was so  refreshing in the morning. It  was a regular day, but I decided to bunk the office after a very long time. Bunking is a special feeling, (btw: bunking is disappearing from work without any information) we would have bunked the classes, but bunking the office is the industry's latest trend. It was a quiet day, as I turn the Newspaper, sipping second coffee of the day, it was really meant to be a relaxed day and the plan was to Eat, sleep, repeat until it becomes boring. How many of you have bunked the office recently? If you haven't tried yet don't waste time bunk your work today and who have already tried, try again. Coming back to the lead concept... I was having second coffee of the day when a very loud horn got my attention. It was a school bus, then a second, a third, fourth sometimes a school bus, sometimes auto rickshaws picking students. Somehow the chaos created by t
