Brief about Jeddah
 

 
               Jeddah is port city in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia located in the western coast(Red Sea) of KSA . its also the second biggest city and economic capital of  kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Jeddah is a very lively city with a huge number of floating population who come to Jeddah for trade, Business and pilgrimage to the holy mosque in Makkah. Local say Jeddah Ghair which means Jeddah is Unique or different and as said Jeddah is really a diversified city with super cool citizens and expatriates from around the globe. Holy city of Makkah is 90Km from Jeddah.
 
Jeddah experiences moderate climate( comparing with other cities in Saudi Arabia) through out the Year where temperature varies from 25 degree Celsius to 40 degree Celsius. Life starts very early like any other cities in Saudi Arabia. Most of the schools opens at 6:30 Am and closes by noon at 1:00PM.
 
Jeddah has some super mega sized malls like Red Sea mall and Mall of Arabia and super markets like Carrefour, Hyper-panda and Danube. Almost all malls have play area and 7D theatres which provides entertainment specially to kids. Play area and food courts are full with people during the weekends.

Jeddah is also famous for football. It houses some of the Best Football clubs of Saudi Arabia namely  Al-Ahli Saudi FC and Itihad FC. King Abdullah sports city(KASC) is one the finest football stadium which can accommodate more than 62,000 spectators.
 
Place of attraction in Jeddah:

  1. World tallest flag pole since 2014 (170M) which stands tall close to the cornice and can be seen from as far as 5km.
  2. King Fahd Sea water fountain(312M) which is the tallest fountain of its kind. The reflection of sunrays during sunset makes a spectacular view.
  3. Jeddah has a long stretch of developed cornice with a fishing bay, restaurants, theme parks, and coffee shop.
  4. Abhur open beach where we can relax in the beach sand, Swim in the swimming bay, and can take a ferry ride
  5. Balad District where you can find traditional houses and heritage museum. Balad also has a huge shopping area where you can find almost everything and it also houses a gold market.
  6. A visit to Al-Fakieh aquarium one can get to know the sea life with variety of fishes in Red sea and corals in Red Sea. The aquarium also has a dolphin show which runs for around 30min and it breathtaking to watch the dolphin perform for us.
Places of attraction around Jeddah:
  1. Dhaban Marian park, Thuwal beach and ship wreck site in Shoibah are some of the attractions around Jeddah.
  2. Taif which is the summer capital of Saudi Arabia is about 2 hours drive from Jeddah which is famous for it's climatic conditions, parks and gardens. Al Hada Road gives a breathtaking view and driving experience. One can also find rope car which provides a spectacular view of the valley and if you are lucky enough can spot some wildlife in the valley (Monkeys, Baboons, Wild mountain goats, Eagles etc..)



Food in Jeddah:

In Jeddah one can find all varieties of cuisine, which include Saudi , Yemeni, Lebanese, Turkish, Egyptian, Jordanian, Indian, Pakistani, Bukhari, continental, Italian and name any cuisine it's available in Jeddah.

Common foods:

        Boofiya's (small restaurants) serving Thamiya and Egg mixed sandwich, Phool(Beans/Dal) and Tamis (bread), Paratha and sukshuka, Aloo- paratha and channa masala and Egg Paratha for breakfast as early as 6:00AM can be spotted all over Jeddah
       Shawaya(Grilled), Faham(BBQ) chicken,Lamb Mandi and biryani are very popular food for lunch. I should not forget to mention about Al-Baik which serves fried chicken is the talk of the town everyday for lunch.
       Come to Azizia where one can find samosa,Chicken Tikka, Kebab,  Pani Pori , Pav-Bhaji and super delicious Elachi chai(tea) are available till midnight.
        Step into Tahlia street were you can find food joints food malls featuring some of the world class restaurant's like Cheese Cake Factory, Pizza Express, PF Chang's , Steak House , KFC and  McDonalds.

         Overall Jeddah offers a wide range of food which can satisfy one's taste buds and a great treat for food lovers.

 
I moved to Jeddah in 2010 and its been 6Yrs now since we moved to Jeddah. We have been to many places in and around Jeddah, enjoyed the multinational cuisines available in Jeddah and undoubtedly me and my family like the city.
