Must know Values of life for children - Three "ty's"

Value of life-Three ty's

This post is written for the Inspire Edition: 199  "what are the 3 most important values that you would teach your child? #responsibleparent"
One of the popular Tamil saying "ஐந்திலே வளையாதது, ஐம்பதிலே வளையுமா? Equivalent of this Tamil saying in english is "Bend the twig, Bent the tree". If we need to have responsible citizens we need to teach the values of life in a very early age. Once put on track at an early age, the child won't derail from the values taught when they grow-up.
Everyone would like their children to be good in studies, sports, arts or any other discipline, but it  depends on the natural talent of  the child and their personal interest. More than any of these talents the kids need to learn the values of life without out which any form of talent is useless.
Remember we need to teach children 3 ty's which will  help them to become responsible citizens in the future. The three 3ty's are Honesty, Modesty and Charity
Honesty: Kids shall be taught to  be honest and accept their mistakes. The child shall be given a feeling that he/she will not be punished if they are honest. The children needs to be appreciated for being honest and needs to know the adverse effects of dishonesty.
Modesty: Though modesty has many different perspective, we shall teach our children to be Polite, respect elders, to be indiscriminative, friendly and tolerant. These are good characters which we need to teach our children and the rest will be learnt over time. In order to co-exist with other human beings it very important to be modest
Charity: Charity is very important, teach the children to sympathize and help the needy and poor. Charity is not only about doing monetary help to the under privileged, poor and needy but also support them and show sympathy.
The biggest challenge is how to teach the kids about honesty, modesty and charity. Neither they posses sufficient intelligence nor patience to sit and listen to your lectures and they are so immature to learn about these stuff(3 ty’s)Puzzled!!! How to make them understand??
One the most effective and time proven ways to make them understand is with moral bed time stories,  moral stories in school, illustrative videos etc..
Second and most important way to teach them is that you as a parent shall follow the values of life    (3 ty’s). Kids learn a lot from the behavior of the parents. So be cautious about of what you speak & do and how you behave when kids are around. Follow what you preach
Teach your children the 3 ty’s Honesty, Modesty and charity and be a responsible parent #responsibleparent.
