Indians are struck with English Nostalgia

Trip to London:

A man living in rural India wins a ticket for a trip to London. After 2 weeks he returns back from London and met his friend. They discussed many things about his trip...

 

Friend: what did you  like the most in London?
London return: In London everyone is well educated.
Friend : How do u know that?
London return ; Yaar... Only well educated people can speak in English but in London even waiters and labors speak only in English. Even small babies speak in English...

English Nostalgia:

Well, Indians regard some one who can speak English as superior than others, well educated(sahib) and give them lot of respect. Indians are badly struck with English Nostalgia and practice American accent and British accent. Many tour guides speak well in English and French, but believe me most of then can't read or write any language which exists in this universe. Any language including English is only a mode of communication and speaking in English doesn't add any feather in your cap...

Need for English:

In a group where the spoken language is not uniform it calls for  a common language to communicate with each other. English is given first choice as it can be learned easily and its one of the most spoken language world wide. Having strong  and commanding  English speaking skills  is well appreciated in Multinational companies as they have multilingual workforce.

We are blogging in English as we can reach out for more audience, who has different native languages or mother tongue.

Funny Incident:

I remember a funny incident which happened before a couple of years, a young guy(Seems to be working for IT firm) was buying stuff in a super market and he was talking to the super market workers fluently in English in American accent and the workers were clueless. My friend stepped in to the rescue of the workers and introduced himself as Peter from Petersburg( a phrase used to make fun of those who speak in English and act to be grand children of Queen Victoria, St. Petersburg is in Russia) and he can be translator. The guy realized that we are making fun of him and started talking in Tamil.

Thought Process:

Even though, you are well versed in English, studies shows Human brain thinks and process all data in the native or mother tongue. The language of  Human CPU is set to Native language or Mother tongue and cannot be changed. Apart from English  speaking countries, Chinese and Japanese study in  native languages which had contributed for their success. In India we have so many dialects and its impossible to create curriculum in each language.

To conclude:

Like any other language English is also language for communication between each other. Having good English speaking skill could make you noticeable in a group. Personality or Inter personal character/skills are not enhanced by knowing or speaking in English, but it opens more doors, so that one can interact with more people, read more book, articles and resources etc... which could(not guaranteed...varies from person to person) add a sparkle to Personality of a person.
